Consumers rated Ford's new Explorer, Fiesta and Focus models at less-than-average reliability during their first year, according to Consumer Reports' annual auto survey. Poor reception of the new models bumped Ford's overall reliability rank from the 10th spot in 2010 to the 20th this year among the 28 major nameplates included in the survey. CHELSEA Football Club manager José Mourinho has been presented with a brand new Jaguar F-Type R Coupé – by two of the men responsible for building it. Two members of Jaguar's Castle Bromwich manufacturing team, Gary Johnson and Steven Gaut, were invited to present the car to the charismatic Blues boss. Steven Gaut was given the opportunity in recognition of his exemplary contribution at Castle Bromwich, and his tireless support of local charities for whom he has raised over £60,000 in recent years.
Vehicle Design students at the Royal College of Art in London, UK, started work on a project sponsored by Volkswagen in October last year. Asked to research and visualize future market sectors and the needs, aspirations and desires of potential users; VW's brief to the students was to create a vehicle which had an innovative, integrated interior to reflect the research the students conducted, in a space that had equal value both in the daytime and at night. The brief also called for new space concepts for the person/machine interface through new functions and new packaging of components.
